All art on this page is by me, Carol Naveta Rivoire, and my paintings are signed “Naveta” which was my mother’s name. Most are my newest paintings, done the winter of 2020 - As a child, I was in love with horses, and after a period of no horses in my life, I got back to them in a big way in 1979, importing, breeding, training, and selling Norwegian Fjord horses for the next 30 years. In 2020, somehow I was inspired to pick up once again drawing and painting horses, and the horses I did were all inspired by my life with Fjordhorses.

NOTE: All my art is original. No prints - I’m able to price my paintings most reasonably since I’m not renting gallery space. I own the farm where I create and display my work. —

There is - NO RENT - NO COMMISSIONS - This means significant savings for art lovers.

Prince of the Universe - 2020 SOLD

12 x 12” painting on canvas. I didn’t quite realize it at the time I did these paintings, but I am painting the “essence of the Fjord breed”, and by that I mean their artistic shapes and lines, which actually, was what attracted me to this breed in the first place. They have a definite elegance born of character and strength. $150 CN Plus Shipping

Now I’m Here - 2020

SOLD

14 x 14 acrylic on canvas —This is not my usual style, but it turned out quite well. It’s a simple, conservative, Impressionistic landscape. I did it in an art workshop this winter. No instructor, but Artist Guide. He didn’t teach, but was available for critiques if asked. $l75 CN Plus Shipping

“A creative life is an amplified life. A bigger, happier, and expanded life. A hell of a lot more interesting life.”

Big Bird - 2020

24 x 40” acrylic on canvas. Boy, do I like this picture. It’s fun and exciting and it does hit all the important points that make a good picture - Shapes (organic & inorganic, lines (thin & not so thin), contrasting and harmonizing color, and does take your eyes all around the picture. — But, mostly it’s fun & funky.

$680 CN Plus Shipping

This is a FUN piece !

28 x 32” acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas. - Arthur and I used to vacation on Cedar Key in northern Florida. Someone told us when we were looking for a weekend stay . . . “There’s this funky little place you might like . . .” — We spent that weekend and then returned for winter stays over several years. Surrounded by water, this totally car-free village was funky indeed. Everyone walked or used golf carts, the main industry was clamming - great bars and a charming Art Gallery. — And so I painted this picture. $425 CN Plus Shipping

You’re My Best Friend - 2020

I found myself painting horses this winter. Haven’t done that since I was 12. This charming picture is the most realistic Fjordhorse I produced the whole season. This is the breed we bred, imported, trained and sold during 30+ years. Still have two Fjords, BDF Quasar, and his dam, Holly, now 34 years old and still extremely spry. She had 16 foals for us, and we’ve owned her since she was 2 years old. $450 CN Plus Shipping

Flash - 2020

12 x 12 acrylic on canvas - This is an interesting painting because of the values and contrasts . . . and mood. I painted it this winter in an art workshop where we didn’t have a teacher. We had kind of a “minder”. A professional artist in the room who would give guidance if pressed, but he preferred to just let us work things out ourselves. Strangely enough I found myself doing some really good work in this atmosphere. I brought a lot of blank canvases and usually went home with three or four pretty good paintings. $150 CN Plus Shipping

Al’s Barn - 2019

Another Al Lachman workshop picture that I did in the super creative atmosphere of Al’s teachings. He thought, and I do too, that it’s quite successful with line, shape, value, lights and darks . —

Awesome is Everything - 2020

32 x 32 acrylic on canvas. — signed on the back, so turn it upside down, sideways, or anyways. — I painted the background of this picture in 2019, and thought it was finished, but everytime I looked at it hanging in the gallery there was something that wasn’t quite right. My feeling was that it was “Too Blue”. So, this spring I took it back into the studio and let myself loose on it, thus creating all the rather musical lines which I love. — “Now, it feels right, so it must be right.” as Al Lachman says.

We Will Rock You - 2020

20 x 20” acrylic on canvas - This has to be my favorite of all the paintings I did this past winter. It’s pretty damn exciting & fun. Don’t you love the curves of the neck? Definitely modeled after the Fjordhorses that were so much a part of my life for 30 years.

Inuendo - 2020 SOLD (to me)

14 x 14” acrylic on canvas - It was not intended, but somehow this painting looks Japanese. Must be the soft and subtle colors.

$220 CN Plus Shipping

Note: Most of my paintings (abstracts) are signed on the back. This allows the purchaser to turn it upside down, if that pleases him.

No One But You -2020

14 x 14” acrylic on canvas — Another “abstraction” of a Fjordhorse. This one shows the amazing strength of a Fjord - muscular neck, jowl and chest. All with the dynamic expression of character.

“Fearless, Gutsy, Original . . . Full of Surprises & True to herself. . . . that’s how one of my mentors described my art work. — I was THRILLED! At 79 years old, being called “gutsy” is a good thing.

Friends Will Be Friends - 2020

32 x 32” acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas. This is one of my favorite paintings of 2020. Again, it’s those wonderful curved lines. It’s a big imposing though very easy on the eyes painting with soft colors.

RADIO GA GA - 2020

28 x 31” abstract acrylic on canvas - You might think this is a somewhat “busy” painting, but I can tell you it “was” busy and I improved it enormously by substracting a lot. For instance, half the petals on the flower image lower left corner. Whatever . . . . I painted in a fit of passion, then eliminated lots of elements, and painted over and over and over. That’s how I managed to achieve all the different colors that eventually showed up. I am truly proud of this work. Hope you like it too.
