—- Carol Naveta Rivoire’s paintings sell almost exclusively at her OLD BARN GALLERIES & GARDENS farm in Pomquet Village, Antigonish Co, Nova Scotia. And now because of COVID, we sell on line from our VIRTUAL GALLERY . . .

Because Carol Naveta owns the farm and gallery buildings (which used to be stables), she does not have to pay rent thereby making it possible to sell her original art at very affordable prices —

NO RENT ——NO MARK-UPS —- NO COMMISSIONS

All paintings on this site were done in last 3 years - If they haven’t sold in that time, they are either discounted or donated. — That is, if I don’t love it so much, it just has to stay around a bit longer . . . .

One of Carol Naveta’s mentors, the famed abstract artist, Tammra Sigler, said this about Naveta’s art . . .

“Naveta is Fearless, Gutsy, Honest, and True to herself. She’s not afraid to dare.”

La Chine - 2019

24 x 18” canvas, acrylic - I don’t do a lot of florals, but this is a vase I saw in a jeweler’s window in Portugal. Took a picture of it and came home and painted it with droopy flowers.

$375 CN. Plus Shipping

“Being an artist is a wonderful way to live your life.”

- Al Lachman - artist

SOLD

16 x 20” acrylic - Everybody loves the colors in this painting. It’s an abstract, but what I saw in it once finished was a city skyscape with TV antennas.

This 2019 painting is one of my favorites . . .

2019 painting done in a Tammra Sigler Workshop -

20 x 20” acrylic on canvas

FEARLESS, GKUTSY, ORIGINAL, FULL OF SURPRISES & TRUE TO HERSELF . . . . . This describes the work that Carol Naveta Rivoire created in my workshop. It was a joy for me to “mentor” Carol because of the absolute delight she brought to her work. Her ability to hear new ideas and opinions and then apply them to her own thinking. These are essential attributes in an artist.

Mollusk - 2017

30 x 30” abstract in acrylic on canvas. Talk about “pure abstract”, this is one. I just kept on painting until it “felt right”. And then looking at what I’d done, I named it Mollusk

“Paint loose, free spontaneously. Let the viewer finish the painting your creativity has made possible.”

- Al Lachman, artist

SOLD

18 x 18” acrylic on canvas. This painting appeals to me a lot. It’s a bit quirky/funky which always gives me pleasure. I probably should do more like it, although I do have a hard time with florals. The picture is mostly done with palette knife, and has a slightly oriental feeling.

“It feels right to me, so it must be right”

SOLD — 32 x 32” acrylic on canvas - Can you tell I painted this one in Florida? These are not my normal colors, but it’s a beautiful painting and people think I should do more in this vein.

Acrylic abstract on canvas. This picture sold about two years ago, and I can’t remember the size. It’s quite a lovely abstract and frankly, it thrills me to have painted it. Just love those colors.

SOLD Lofty Thoughts - 2017

28 x 28” acrylic on canvas - The year I painted this was the year I was putting ladders in a lot of paintings. Don’t know why or what they symbolized It was just something I felt compelled to do. Anyway, I consider this a nice painting. It’s one I’ve had hung on the wall for a couple of years which is really a good test of a piece of art. If you like it after all that time, then it’s most likely a good one.

Overpass II - 2019

32 x 32” acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas - This painting and the one below were done soon after my trip to Portugal. Something about one of the cities I visited produced this image. I’m pleased with both of them, and they would make a stunning pair.

Kaleidescope - 2017

28 x 28 acrylic on burlap - Lots of texture here. This is one I struggled with and finally, finally got right. There are so many layers of paint on this picture - but that’s a good thing on the loosely wrapped ground.

DANCING WOMAN 2019

18 x 24” acrylic on canvas - Can you see the dancing woman? How about the pink cow. — I get it that this painting isn’t for everyone, but it holds my interest, and I really enjoyed “letting go” and painting it.

$325 CN Plus Shipping

“. . . beyond object and materials is the work of the abstract painter.”

MOON FACE - 2019 - not for sale at this time

30 x 30” acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas - This one was really hard work, but I’m loving the end result. Maybe you don’t see the “moon face”. I once painted a pure abstract that reminded me of the Olympics, but a customer came into the gallery and said . . . “It’s a school bus, right?” -

CITY PARK 2019

18 x 24”mixed media acrylic on canvas. As you can no doubt tell, this painting was done the same time as “Dancing Woman” — I was using the same palette. Again, this one was hard for me, which is the way things go when doing abstracts. Problem, of course is, you’re not painting a photograph, or a chair, or a portrait. You have actually nothing to go by except your own sense of color and line. — So, when all was done, I saw kites and city blocks, and a huge cone of Cotton Canday. $450 CN Plus Shipping

Theresa’s Gift 2016

36 x 36” mixed media acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas. I was taking one of my first abstract workshops in Florida with the very famous, high sought after artist/teach, Theresa Girard. I came into the class with my canvas panels, all 16 x 20s. Everybody else had much much larger canvases. Anyway, I painted and the instructor, Theresa liked my work. But, the next day as we all gathered for the morning art talk, Theresa announced . . . “I have a gift for Carol. She needs to paint on a big canvas.” — I can’t tell you how astonished I was. Well, I painted the background in class and finished it at home. I believe this painting has all the bells and whistles of what needs to be included in a good abstract.

Time Travel - 2019

30 x 30 “ acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas. Another pleasingly happy abstract. I enjoy the combination of colors. — A definition (mine anyway) of what makes a good painting is how it looks hanging in a home. This one is hanging in my Hill House, and is the first thing visitors see coming in the door. It ‘s a fine welcome! $800 CN Plus Shipping

“To be a poet with paint, line, form, color, space and composition . . . .”

STREET DANCE

25 X 28” acrylic on canvas - This picture is a year or so older than others listed. I’ve not discounted or donated it because I like it a lot. It’s a complicated and good painting I’m proud of.

GELATO - 2017

30 x 30” acrylic on canvas. To me, this painting hits all the “must have buttons” Different shapes, Different sizes - Quiet Space - Pleasing and interesting colors - Varying lines - Flow . . .

A Kind of Magic 2019

32 x 32” acrylic on canvas - Color, Color, Color ! - Very dynamic, exciting picture - Would make any room come alive. I did this in a particularly happy time in my life. I was renting a little cottage right on the edge of a saltwater river. There were boats, dolphins, sea birds, and everybody around me was as content and happy as I was. I rented the same cottage for two years and had a wonderful time doing all the things I love most - ie, drinking wine, eating well, painting all day.

“Trust the process - The brush will do on its own what you can’t conceive of.”

- Al Lachman, Artist

IMG_3346.JPEG

SOLD

30 x 30 acrylic on canvas - Someone has to buy this painting to hang in a kitchen. — Every time I look at it, I think “KITCHEN”. It was a pure abstract, but as often happens, when I’d finished I saw I’d painted a chicken, and it rather looks like chicken wire in the background. I find I tend to use a lot of blue and orange, and of course, those are the two “classic” complementary colors — It’s a fun painting that you’ll love.

“Be the weirdo who dares to live in this moment”

LUNCH - 2017

32 X 32” acrylic on canvas - Another pure abstract that I painted just concentrating on colors, shapes, and contrast, but when I finally put my brush down I saw a watermelon, a fish, a cucumber and a squash - Therefore, the name LUNCH.

“If it comes too easy, you are probably playing it safe”

IMG_3412.JPEG

Al’s Mountain

12 x 12” acrylic on canvas - Done about same time as above painting. Note the colors and the triangular shapes. Funny how the artist’s mind works. — I had just finished taking the dynamic workshop of Al Lachman, very successful impressionistic artist from Pennsylvania.

$350 CN Plus Shipping

— Bargain Prices on both pics.

TRAPEZE - 2018

18 x 24” acrylic on canvas - Another exuberant painting done in the beach cottage I had the luck to rent for two seasons. Right on the Gulf in Bonita Beach, Florida. Along with the cute cottage and fabulous beach, The Art Center of Bonita Springs was right down the road. — If you like a bit of “funk” in your life, you’ll enjoy this painting. — One of the criteria necessary in a good abstract is that your eye is drawn to move around the picture. I think it does in this painting. Lots to see without excess business. $375 CN Plus Shipping

Cathedral in Blue - 2019

This lovely painting is more Impressionistic than Abstract, and it bothered me for a while, so I hung it in the gallery where it’s been for several months, and now I know that I like it a lot. Since this painting was finished last summer, I did make some small additions to the painting that immensely enhanced it. (If you’re interested in purchasing, I’ll send you a current photo

Candy Mountain - 2019

32 x 32” acrylic abstract on Gallery Wrapped canvas.

This is quite an exciting painting that will bring excitement and color to your home. It’s deceptively simple looking. I spent days getting the shapes and colors just right, and as a result, there’s lots of texture in the piece with all the areas I painted over and over again. $700 CN Plus Shipping

- 2019

18 x 18” acrylic on canvas. This picture is on display and for sale at Antigonish Aesthetics on the Post Road across from Super Store. —- It’s a delightful abstract done from “life” (a vase of flowers) - By bringing the flowers to life and movement, it becomes a much more interesting picture than the ubiquitous vase of flowers.

Portal in Portugal

30 X 30” acrylic mixed media on gallery wrapped canvas. This is a “sit up and notice”/”knock your socks off”/”see it across the room” painting. It was inspired by my 2018 trip to Portugal. I took a photo of a doorway in Lisbon and painted my version of it when I got home - Could you call this “Abstract Realism” . . . . I don’t know. $750 CN
