ROBERT GOODLETT
I first saw Robert Goodlett’s paintings in Cedar Key, FL. which is a tiny island off the Northern Gulf Coast . They were absolutely wonderful realism of the flora and fauna of the region. Wonderfully painted - easy to see the great talent, but not my thing. Realism has never appealed to me a whole lot. I much prefer impressionistic art. — A few years later after we’d started Old Barn Gallery at Beaver Dam Farm, I was in Florida again and looked Robert up visiting his studio. Then I had a chance to see his impressionistic Flower pictures, and absolutely fell in love with them. So I bought a couple and commissioned several more. To me, an impressionistic version of florals tells the story of their beauty more so than realism. I only have a few of Goodlett’s florals left, and I reluctantly part with them. In fact, I have one in my bedroom that I plan to keep. (that is, one painting out of 14 in my bedroom.
