Beaver Dam Farm
A sublime farm in one of the most gorgeous areas of Nova Scotia – Spend a week or more at our beautiful 350 acre farm. Come alone, or bring your family and pets. You can even bring your horse – we are pet friendly.
Unlike many farms that offer farm vacations, Beaver Dam Farm is not isolated. Our Acadian village of Pomquet is 10 minutes from the university town of Antigonish where you’ll enjoy great restaurants, live theatre, Celtic music, championship golf, galleries, and shopping. Beaver Dam Farm is in the ideal location for touring Nova Scotia. Fabulous scenery, beaches and fishing villages are all around us — Arthur and I have traveled the world, and there’s nothing that could induce us to leave Nova Scotia in the summer and fall.
Beaver Dam Farm is hundreds of lush, rolling acres with ocean views. For many reasons, it’s an ideal place to spend your vacation. Arthur and I love hosting our guests and have made many long-term friends that way. We’ve lived here for 21 years, but are “come-from-away” people. Like so many others, it all started with a 2-week vacation we spent in Nova Scotia. We were smitten, and before we left for home (New Hampshire) we’d put a deposit on this farm and were able to move here permanently in 1991. We’re now dual citizens, and moving to Nova Scotia was probably the best move we ever made.
We have two accommodations on the farm, The Charming Cottage and The Carriage House Loft, available from Mid-May to October.
There’s so much to see just on the farm. You can stroll an hour or two enjoying the perennial gardens or enjoy the many walking paths throughout the farm. Gentle hills provide a decent workout. We have three Norwegian Fjord horses, Holly, our 27 year old mare, and her two sons, BDF Quasar, 14 years and BDF Zenith, 4 years. We also have four extremely friendly barn cats – Drew, Bella, Callie, and White Legs. All of them love being picked up, cuddled, and carried around. — Drew is the official greeter at The Old Barn Gallery.
